The event, tagged Artisphere 2026 and themed ‘Media, Technology and Leadership: Advancing Democratic Accountability in the Digital Age,’ brought together academics, media professionals, public officials, and students to discuss the role of digital tools and civic participation in strengthening democratic accountability. One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of awards to the most outstanding students across departments based on academic performance and cumulative grade point average (CGPA). In a release signed by Mr K. A. Bakare, Registrar, and Secretary to Council, the University disclosed that candidates applying for admission into the institution will participate in a physical Post-UTME screening exercise, marking a shift from the previously adopted online screening format. The notice applies to candidates who selected OAU as their first choice in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored 200 and above, as well as Direct Entry (DE) applicants. By Oritsejolomisan Edun The Transport Management Commission (TMC), Great Ife Student Union, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), has raised concerns over the circulation of counterfeit OAU shuttle transport tickets reportedly being sold by some vendors within the university community. In a release dated 21 June 2026 and addressed to students, the commission disclosed that fake versions of the shuttle tickets are currently in circulation and warned students to exercise caution when purchasing tickets. To help students distinguish between genuine and counterfeit tickets, TMC highlighted several identifying features. According to the commission, the imprint on the original ticket runs continuously and clearly across the bus and tricycle icons, while the fake version shows interruptions in the imprint, suggesting manipulation.
