OAU COMMENCES POST-UTME REGISTRATION, RETURNS TO PHYSICAL SCREENING

 By Oritsejolomisan Edun

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has announced a return to physical screening for candidates applying for admission into the institution for the 2026/2027 academic session, alongside the commencement of Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) registration.

In a release signed by Mr K. A. Bakare, Registrar, and Secretary to Council, the University disclosed that candidates applying for admission into the institution will participate in a physical Post-UTME screening exercise, marking a shift from the previously adopted online screening format.

The notice applies to candidates who selected OAU as their first choice in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and scored 200 and above, as well as Direct Entry (DE) applicants.

According to the release, eligible candidates will be required to present themselves physically at designated locations for the screening exercise and participate in their allocated dates between 1 and 5 September 2026. Registration for the exercise commenced on Tuesday, 16 June, and will close on Friday, 14 August 2026.

To complete registration, candidates are expected to visit the University’s admission portal, verify their details using their JAMB registration number, email address, and phone number, and proceed with payment through the approved payment channels. Following successful payment confirmation, login credentials will be sent to candidates’ email addresses to enable them to complete the application process.

The University added that candidates who do not receive their login details after payment may return to the portal to validate their payment and have the credentials resent.

Applicants were also advised to carefully review all submitted information before final submission, as candidates who provide false information or upload incorrect credentials will be automatically disqualified. Candidates are expected to check their screening schedule on the OAU admissions portal from Monday, 24 August 2026.

The release further stated that the Post-UTME screening fee is ₦2,000, excluding portal access charges, and warned candidates against patronising admission or Post-UTME agents.

The University added that detailed eligibility guidelines for UTME, Direct Entry, foreign applicants, and candidates with disabilities are available on the admission portal, while enquiries may be directed to the designated admissions email address.

"IF I COULD GO BACK IN TIME, I WOULD PROBABLY NOT BE IN OAU" - 2025 BEST GRADUATING STUDENT, ENGLISH DEPARTMENT, OAU

Afeez: My name is Olagbaju Afeez Olatomide. I'm from a muslim family of 6. I have three siblings and we are all boys. NCB: How about your educational background? Afeez: I spent all my educational life up to this moment in Ife. I attended Pearl Preparatory School while in nursery class. I proceeded to Faith Standard Schools for my primary and secondary education. I finished secondary school in 2019, applied for English language here in OAU the same year and I got admitted a few months after. NCB: So you mean to type that English was your first choice. Afeez: Yes. I chose English myself. Actually, when I was in SSS 3, I was indecisive on whether I should pursue a degree in Law or English. Later, I got to find out Law wasn't accredited as a programme in OAU that year and since a passionate love fo...

"I WOULD HATE TO MAKE PROMISES BECAUSE THEN I WOULD BE CHALLENGED TO PERFORM ABOVE THEM." - FRANCIS OHACHO, PRESIDENT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH, OAU.

By Mercy Ojegbola  NCB: Can we meet you? Francis: I am Francis Fortunatus Ohacho, popularly known as Sael. A part four student in the Department of English, Obafemi Awolowo University, I am the incumbent president of the department's students body. NCB: What motivated you to run for the position of President? Francis: I would like to use cliché pumped up phrases like I'm led by my passion for service and all.  People often say they knew I was going for presidency from part one due to my proactiveness, but really I didn't have the Presidency in mind till late second semester of part two.  And that's because I have only wanted to support from the sides, being a significant catalyst for development wherever I am. So I've had roles like Vice President and Fin Sec in mind, but not president. I didn't think I had it. My motivation, in summary, would be the realisation of how efficient I can be to an administration. And I don't doubt it, that with the help of the t...
