SCHOOL STILL VACATES 22ND DECEMBER

Rumours have been circulating on the campus about the school management shutting down the school on the 15th for Christmas and New Year break. This, according to rumour is due to WUAG which the school will be hosting 200 Universities in a sports competition.

The rumour follows that students in the Halls of residence will vacate their hostels so that the school management can receive the visitors in these hostels.

However, the school has not released any official statement confirming this. Students have expressed concern about the accuracy of the rumours, and are asking for more information from the school administration especially those in the school hostels.

A WhatsApp conversation between the Dean of Agriculture and a student showed that the school still vacates on the 22nd of December as stated in the school-reviewed calendar.

In the Dean’s words, “NO BREAK was discussed at the Senate meeting, and there is no vacation until 22nd December, for Christmas and New Year, to resume 3rd January 2024.”

He further said in this message, “WAUG is part of school life, and lectures will keep running simultaneously.”

He further commanded in the message for the news to be spread.

GOD IS A POET: JOEL OYELEKE EXPLORES RELIGION THROUGH POETRY

On Sunday, 15th December 2024, Joel Oyeleke, a Part 3 student of the Department of English, launched his debut poetry collection, ‘God is a Poet’. The book launch event commenced with an opening prayer led by Isaiah Adepoju. Thereafter, the chief compere introduced some of the special guests, including Kehinde Agunbiade and Adio Favour Oladimeji, the President of NASELS, OAU Chapter. The event featured captivating performances, starting with a spoken word poetry presentation by Marcel, inspired by Hebrews 11:1. This was followed by a beautiful song rendition and a guitar instrumental. Paul Abidoye, a pencil artist, showcased three of his art. He explained that his paintings were inspired by the Bible. FACULTY OF ARTS STUDENT ASSOCIATION PROPOSES ELECTRONIC VOTING TO ENSURE FAIRNESS

The Faculty of Arts Students Association (FASA) held its first press conference today under the leadership of the Electoral Commission Chairman, Oluwamayowa Isaac Alabi, known as LordMayor. The conference, held at HB 3, Room 404, experienced a low turnout of attendees. The purpose of the conference was to ensure a fair, transparent, and credible FASA election, scheduled for June 24th, 2024, at AUD II from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. The electoral commission introduced a new electronic voting system, replacing the traditional paper-based voting. Electoral Chairman Alabi, along with General Secretary Abidemi, provided an orientation on the new voting process. LordMayor explained that the change was made to maintain orderliness, transparency, and fairness during the election.
