The Xiaomi 14 pro is the latest device from Xiaomi, released on the 26th of October in China. Xiaomi is the parent company of Redmi, Poco and Civi. This year, Xiaomi relinquished the MIUI Android skin for Hyper OS which is much faster and bug-free. (Another article about Android skins is coming). The phone is powered by the brand-new Android 14 Operating System. Then, why is the Xiaomi 14 Pro special? Find out via the specifications below.

Memory, Display and Battery Life

The Xiaomi 14 Pro features immense RAM and internal memory. The phone has 16GB RAM max and 1TB max of internal storage. However, there are smaller memory variants like 12GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. Incredible right?

The Xiaomi 14 Pro features LTPO AMOLED, 68B colours, 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and 3000 nits (peak). The size of the phone is 6.73 inches, 108.9 cm² and has an 89.6% screen-to-body ratio. The device is powered by a 4880mAh and it has 120 watts wired charging (0-100% in 18 mins) and 50 watts wireless charging (0-100% in 40 mins).

Processor and Performance

The brand new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor powers the Xiaomi 14 Pro. At the moment, it is the best smartphone processor and better than Apple’s A17 pro bionic chipset. In other words, the phone has fluid and remarkable performance for gaming and multitasking because of the processor and the new Hyper OS.

Camera

The camera of a device is inarguably the most looked out for specifications in a brand new device. Well, the Xiaomi 14 Pro has one of the best cameras in the smartphone business at the moment. The phone has three 50 MP cameras at the back (wide, telephoto and ultrawide) used to capture mind-blowing and beautiful pictures. The selfie camera houses a 32MP lens used to take remarkable selfie shots. The back camera captures 8K and 4K video recordings effortlessly.

In a nutshell, the Xiaomi 14 Pro is a 5G device and it is dust and water-resistant. The mobile network is tremendously fast and it can last up to 30 minutes in water without getting damaged. The phone comes in Black, Silver, Titanium and Green and costs about 650 EUR.

GOD IS A POET: JOEL OYELEKE EXPLORES RELIGION THROUGH POETRY

On Sunday, 15th December 2024, Joel Oyeleke, a Part 3 student of the Department of English, launched his debut poetry collection, ‘God is a Poet’. The book launch event commenced with an opening prayer led by Isaiah Adepoju. Thereafter, the chief compere introduced some of the special guests, including Kehinde Agunbiade and Adio Favour Oladimeji, the President of NASELS, OAU Chapter. FACULTY OF ARTS STUDENT ASSOCIATION PROPOSES ELECTRONIC VOTING TO ENSURE FAIRNESS

The Faculty of Arts Students Association (FASA) held its first press conference today under the leadership of the Electoral Commission Chairman, Oluwamayowa Isaac Alabi, known as LordMayor. The conference, held at HB 3, Room 404, experienced a low turnout of attendees. The purpose of the conference was to ensure a fair, transparent, and credible FASA election, scheduled for June 24th, 2024, at AUD II from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. The electoral commission introduced a new electronic voting system, replacing the traditional paper-based voting. Electoral Chairman Alabi, along with General Secretary Abidemi, provided an orientation on the new voting process. LordMayor explained that the change was made to maintain orderliness, transparency, and fairness during the election.
