"I LOVE TO THINK OF MYSELF AS A CHANGE MAKER" - CALEB PAMILERIN SOBALOJU

 By Temiloluwa Ruth Areola

NCB: Hiii good evening.

How are you doing today?

Caleb pamilerin: Hiii

Good evening.

I am doing well, thank you.

I hope you’re well too?

NCB: I'm doing great, thank youu.

Caleb pamilerin: I am glad you’re.

NCB: Now, who exactly is Caleb Pamilerin Sobaloju?

Caleb pamilerin: Caleb Pamilerin Sobaloju? Such a strong three nomenclature put together…

Well I love to think of myself as a change maker, who intends to build something great from a small place.

Just a boy who grew up on a farm land and walking his way up among kings and change makers. I hope I am not too complex

NCB: Oh no

Not at all. Hmm.

Sounds fascinating.

You sound like a very inspiring entrepreneur

Caleb pamilerin:Yes, actually.

I have built three failed startups and currently building the fourth one, which I love to think would be the next unicorn in the finance ecosystem. I built my first startup when I was 19, failed and built another one from ground up… but now, Building Fluxt, an autonomous banking system that includes everyone in the system of global finance economy.

NCB:Building three failed startups and not giving up?

Are you sure perseverance isn't your middle name?

Caleb pamilerin: Well, I love to think that I learnt it from my Parents, and I am always grateful for the gift of them.

NCB: And how did you manage to keep on pushing in the face of multiple failures?

Caleb pamilerin:Uhmmmm

Let’s say I have built my business Philosophy around failures… It’s part of the game, that’s where actual growth stems from.

NCB:Parents.

What would we do without them?

God-sent gifts for real.

Caleb pamilerin: thank you

NCB: Uhmmmmm...

You transferred from the department of Foreign Languages to the department of English.

What would you say was your motivation for this?

Did you have any expectations and were they met?

Caleb: I don’t even know how to respond to this.Uhmmmmm .My motivation was simple — running away from the expenses of year in Abroad as a foreign language student, I was majoring in Portuguese, which means my year in Abroad would be in Brazil. And I’d rather invest the money in a profitable business than travel with such huge amount and return after a year to the same land of struggle.

I picked English, because I love to write and speak and I thought it’d be a great deal.

But my expectations are not met

NCB: A strategic plan, to be honest.

Which of your expectations were not met?

Caleb pamilerin: All of it

Well, not something I will love to talk about.A failed one.

NCB: I understand, Caleb.

Do you regret it?

The transfer, I mean.

Caleb pamilerin: Yes, at some point. But in a way, I am grateful for the connections and the people that I met along the way.

I love to think of this people as my BA.

NCB:Yes.

A popular belief is that the people and connections you make along the way is the real degree.

Caleb pamilerin: Yea, you’re right.

NCB:How best would you describe yourself?

Introverted or extroverted?

Caleb pamilerin: I am inbetween the lines—an ambivert actually.

NCB:Oh that's exciting.

So, does Caleb have an aspiring Mrs Sobaloju?

Or he also believes relationship is vanity and strictly pursues his B.A?

Caleb pamilerin: Oh my…

I believe in love that grows with me, so I found one I am eternally grateful for. Damilola Oluwalana 🩵🦋 my little bear —I love to think I have built my life around her, I don’t only find love, I found purpose in a person.

She has the light of a thousand stars and my life is lighted up even within with this same light… Such an inspiring woman—when I worry about money to build our startup, she would say “the money will come, Ehnn baby” well it always come. I love to think of her as the CEO of my life, she manages it so well with such warmth and peace.

She’s the best of everything and I am grateful for her presence.

I don’t mind writing more.

NCB:A man in love is so beautiful to watch.

Caleb pamilerin: Maybe

NCB:This has been a very insightful session on who Caleb Pamilerin Sobaloju is.

I hope you'll answer our call next time if the need arises. That would be all for now. Thank youuuu!

Caleb pamilerin: Thank you

I’ll always love to do this again, hopefully when my product is in the market.Such a great time with you. It’s a privilege

I am grateful for it.

NCB: The pleasure's all mine.

"I WOULD HATE TO MAKE PROMISES BECAUSE THEN I WOULD BE CHALLENGED TO PERFORM ABOVE THEM." - FRANCIS OHACHO, PRESIDENT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH, OAU.

By Mercy Ojegbola  NCB: Can we meet you? Francis: I am Francis Fortunatus Ohacho, popularly known as Sael. A part four student in the Department of English, Obafemi Awolowo University, I am the incumbent president of the department's students body. NCB: What motivated you to run for the position of President? Francis: I would like to use cliché pumped up phrases like I'm led by my passion for service and all.  People often say they knew I was going for presidency from part one due to my proactiveness, but really I didn't have the Presidency in mind till late second semester of part two.  And that's because I have only wanted to support from the sides, being a significant catalyst for development wherever I am. So I've had roles like Vice President and Fin Sec in mind, but not president. I didn't think I had it. My motivation, in summary, would be the realisation of how efficient I can be to an administration. And I don't doubt it, that with the help of the t...

I proceeded to Faith Standard Schools for my primary and secondary education. I finished secondary school in 2019, applied for English language here in OAU the same year and I got admitted a few months after. NCB: So you mean to type that English was your first choice. Afeez: Yes. I chose English myself. Actually, when I was in SSS 3, I was indecisive on whether I should pursue a degree in Law or English.
