The event titled "Her Money Moves," organized by the Office of the Vice President, was held in celebration of International Women's Day (IWD) 2025. The primary focus of this event was to empower women to take ownership of their financial futures.
The program commenced at 11:40 AM. with an opening prayer followed by the National Anthem. Alawode Ewaoluwa served as the anchor for the event, welcoming distinguished guests to the podium, where special seating had been arranged for them. Co-host Mr. Fashina Oluwadaanmilare supported the anchor throughout the proceedings.
Furthermore, the Vice President, Odediji Christianah, delivered an opening speech, expressing her gratitude to all attendees and emphasizing the event's focus on finance, its maintenance, and the importance of honouring financial literacy She announced that each attendees would receive a complimentary book which were given to some random attendees.
Keynote Speakers
Following the Vice President's remarks, the anchor invited Professor Opeyemi Ekundayo to the podium, representing Professor Olubola Babalola. Professor Ekundayo read an introduction outlining the significance of financial literacy, emphasizing that "without money, nothing can be done."
First Speaker: Mr. David Ogunleye
Mr. Ogunleye discussed the importance of awareness over skills in financial literacy. He articulated that one's worth should not be defined solely by the figures in their bank account, declaring, "money is not just figures." Stressing that human beings embody value, he stated, "You are the money you are looking for." He elaborated on the concept of money as a stream of water, highlighting the necessity of understanding its language and the mindset required for financial success. He also addressed the evolution of money throughout history and elucidated different levels of wealth, including cash, credibility, character, confidence, and creativity.
Second Speaker: Miss Elizabeth Babalola
Miss Babalola's presentation focused on "Smart Choices, Strong Future: The Road-Map to Financial Independence." She emphasized that financial management is about behaviour rather than the amount of money one possesses. Using the example of Tim, who saved 10% of his income annually, she illustrated the significance of mindset in money management. Miss Babalola stressed the importance of budgeting, creating emergency funds, and distinguishing between short-term and long-term financial goals. She also provided insights on investing in various assets and warned against overexposing savings to high-risk investments such as cryptocurrency. She concluded her session with a valuable reminder: "Don't borrow money you can't return," and recommended the book "The Richest Man in Babylon" to all attendees.
In addition, interspersed between speeches, a spoken word artist, Ayomide captivated the audience with insights into financial literacy, reinforcing that it transcends gender and is a universal human concern.
Further, Pitch Competition took place. The event culminated with a pitch competition wherein various brands showcased their products. The citations for Miss Cynthia Ikehua, Professor Ijadunola Macelina, and Miss Iyaji Queeneth were introduced as judges for this segment.
The results of the pitch competition were as follows:

2nd Position: Cinder and Stone Jewellery Store (First Runner-Up Prize: ₦300,000)
3rd Position: Baybae Brand Lip Gloss (Second Runner-Up Prize: ₦200,000)

5th Position: Athena Cheerline.
