"OAU is not a hidden school, it is one of the best schools in the country" - Debby

NCB : Good evening. I'm Eyimofe and I'll be interviewing you this evening.

FYB : Good evening.

NCB : Can we meet you?

FYB : I'm Deborah Adewumi. A final year student from the Department of English. I'm the first child of three children and I'm from Ekiti State.

NCB : Hi, Deborah, this sounds lovely, but can we know more?

FYB : I live in the North and I attended three secondary schools before moving to the South West.

NCB : As an Ekiti babe that grew up in the North, do you speak Hausa and how would you describe growing up there?

FYB : I can't speak Hausa but I know their greetings and basic communication. It was nice growing up there plus the environment I grew up in was a mix-up and not dominated by only Hausas.

NCB : Oh! This is cool. Do you think this has impacted your life in anyway?

FYB : Yes, it has. From the people I've met and the places I've been too, I've experienced a level of impact.

NCB : As a final year student, you have spent a long time in campus, apart from academics, what extra-curriculars have you taken part in.

FYB : I joined non academic organizations and specifically campus journalism. It has been eye-opening and amazing and I have learnt a lot from these part years.

NCB : Why OAU!

FYB : I just had a natural love for OAU, so I decided to choose it.

NCB : Okay! A natural love for OAU, you said you grew up in the North, how did you hear of a university that is far South?

FYB : OAU is not a hidden school, it is one of the best schools in the country and I also wanted to school in the south-west.

NCB : True. Why the department of English?

FYB : OAU didn't have mass communication as at the time I applied so, I opted for English Language and I don't regret I did.

NCB : A little birdie told me you went to fashion school. If there were a department of fashion as at the time you applied, would you have chosen it?

FYB : Smiles. I can't really say...maybe and maybe not... It depends...

NCB : It depends on?

FYB : Actually, I decided to get a degree in English first and afterwards go to a fashion school.

NCB : If you could study in any school of fashion in the world, where would you go?

FYB : Paris, of course. It's the home of fashion. And if not Paris, then any fashion school in the US will do.

NCB : Bon chance!

FYB: Merci

NCB : Do you have a brand currently?

FYB : Yes, I do. I have a fashion brand that specializes in selling women's underwear and my brand's name is Debbyposh Stores. My brand has an IG account where I also post educative and inspiring updates for ladies.

NCB : What would you say influenced the brand?

FYB : Do you mean what influenced the starting of the brand or?

NCB : Yes, I do.

FYB : Okay, I saw the need to start especially knowing the fact that lingeries are basic needs for every woman. Also, my mum was a great influence on me starting my brand. She encouraged me a lot and believed I could handle a business on my own.

NCB : Aren't mothers the best?

FYB : Yes, mothers are the best. Well, it hasn't been so easy. But, it all balls down to one learning how to balance ones time.

NCB : Would you say you have mastered that?

FYB : Hmmmm, kind of, I'm still a work in progress.

NCB : Could you describe for us your fondest memory in the department?

FYB : Whenever my results are good and also beautiful moments with my friends.

NCB : And your worst memory?

FYB : The stress in OAU. Whenever I'm stressed.

NCB: Do you have any tips for your junior colleagues on how to manage stress?

FYB : Start your academic study on time and not when things are choked up. Also, don't be involved in too many activities that you won't be able to handle because it will put pressure on you which can make you not make as much progress as you want.

NCB : Are you in a relationship?

FYB : No

NCB: Happily single or still searching?

FYB : I'm happy always.

NCB : That's good to hear. Any shout-out?

FYB : Shout-out to my parents and all my lovely friends.

NCB : Thank you so much

 for joining us today.

FYB : It's my pleasure.

*Can we meet you?* •I am Adéwùmí Zainab Atóyèbí. I recently graduated from the Department of English with a First Class degree (Honours)and the privilege of being the best graduating student of the department. *How do you feel bagging first-class degree in the Department of English since the last time it was recorded?* • I feel very joyful and grateful to God who enabled me and gave me the privilege to have achieved such a feat. While I was diligent with my studies, it is entirely by the grace and favour of God that I graduated well, and I am sincerely grateful for it. *What challenges did you encounter?* • The Department of English is undeniably challenging on its own, especially considering its past records.
