MANIFESTO NIGHT BRINGS FORTH A NEW DAWN FOR FASA ELECTIONS


The Faculty of Arts Students Association's (FASA) Manifesto and Debate Night, held on 21 June 2024, was a well-attended event that set the stage for FASA's upcoming elections. With the majority of the executive posts unopposed, the highlight of the event was the highly competitive positions for Assistant General Secretary, Vice President, and President.

The aspirants, each graded on appearance, composure, charisma, prowess and fluency, and manifesto, displayed their skills and vision for FASA to the enthusiastic audience. 

The grading of each candidate was as follows:

Director of Sport: 

Adebimpe Israel (65%)


Director of Socials: 

Nkechi Chiamaka (74%)


PRO: 

Adedeji Oluwaseyi (67%)


Treasurer:

Omotosho David (73%)


Financial Secretary: 

Adepoju Segun (61%)


Assistant General Secretary: 

Festus Olamilekan (65%) vs. David Adedayo (69%)


Vice President: 

Olatunji Olamide (70%) vs. Shokatire Temiloluwa (64%)


President: 

Ore-Ewi Praise (74%) vs. Adetunji Lawrence (73%)


The event, which went smoothly without the disruptions that marred last year's event, showcased the aspirants' strong commitment to FASA's values and future.


The manifesto night also brought to light a significant development: the rejection of the proposed electronic voting system by the FASA members despite the commission demo trial. The General Secretary, Abidemi, confirmed that the election would proceed with the traditional paper-based voting.

In a statement, FASA Chairman Alabi urged the aspirants to maintain peace and order during the election process, scheduled for Monday, 24 June. "Let us honour that voice and ensure a smooth, fair, and democratic electoral process." The electoral chairman said.

The upcoming FASA election promises to be an exciting and pivotal moment for the association. As candidates vie for leadership positions and members prepare to cast their ballots, the spirit of FASA's democracy is sure to shine through.

FACULTY OF ARTS STUDENT ASSOCIATION PROPOSES ELECTRONIC VOTING TO ENSURE FAIRNESS

The Faculty of Arts Students Association (FASA) held its first press conference today under the leadership of the Electoral Commission Chairman, Oluwamayowa Isaac Alabi, known as LordMayor. The conference, held at HB 3, Room 404, experienced a low turnout of attendees. The purpose of the conference was to ensure a fair, transparent, and credible FASA election, scheduled for June 24th, 2024, at AUD II from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. The electoral commission introduced a new electronic voting system, replacing the traditional paper-based voting. Electoral Chairman Alabi, along with General Secretary Abidemi, provided an orientation on the new voting process.
