"I will go for a shaped woman"_Olamide

NCB: Can we meet you?

FYB: I am Olamide Alagbe, a student of the prestigious department of English language. I occupy the first position of the four kids of my parents. I hail from Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

NCB: Tell us more about your family background.

FYB: Like I said, I am the first child of my parents and was birthed in Ilorin before my dad took us all to the North where he worked; Katsina State and Funtua, to be precise. Right there, I had my primary school education at Model Staff School, Bakori, my junior secondary school at Federal Government College, Sokoto, before we eventually came back to Ogbomoso where I attended FGC for my senior secondary school because of the crisis. Currently, I reside in Kwara State, Omu-Aran, to be precise. As a result of this, I became a polyglot. I speak English, Hausa, and Yoruba.

NCB: Are you a dutch or a vulnerable first child?

FYB: Yes, I am a dutch.

NCB: Great! What made you choose OAU?

FYB: Sincerely speaking, I wouldn’t say OAU was my choice of institution. I never thought of it. I opted for UniOsun but for the fact that I couldn’t meet up the cut off, my parents (specifically my dad) had to choose OAU for me because my childhood friend whom we both grew up together in the North was taking the pre-degree program. Hence, I had to do the same the following year. But I love my stay here. It’s one of the best decisions ever. I can trace my personal development to OAU.

NCB: Did you crave for English Language as a predite?

FYB: will say that I did. Back in UniOsun when I applied, I made the choice of studying English and International Relations.

NCB: Tell us your perspective of the department?

FYB: English department!! Hmm… my ink will dry off if I begin digging deep into my personal experiences. The department is amazing and one of its kind. I will stop there.

NCB: To be more specific, you know people complain of ‘’shege’’ experience in the department, do you also say this slang?

FYB: Ha! I need to mind my language. Yeah, I will use a favourite verse from the Bible to trigger my point, which goes thus, “the expectation of the righteous shall not be cut short.”

NCB: (Smiles) What’s your favorite course?

FYB: Well, there are times one expectation isn’t met academic wise despite the fact that you give it your best. I guess they are building us up, real building, I mean! Anyway, my favourite course is EGL 205 Advance Composition.

NCB: Alright. What other thing(s) do you do aside academics?

FYB: I am a teacher, a creative content writer, and fashion designer. I also engage in professional and personal development to make me a better version.

Read also: Well, i’ll say that I am at my best with the services I render to people

NCB: Wow! You are richly industrious.

FYB: Thank you.

NCB: How do you manage other engagement with academics?

FYB: I simply prioritise. Putting what matters first. It isn’t so easy but it works when you allot a certain portion of time. Also, I schedule. So far, this has helped guide my focus.

NCB: What’s the craziest thing someone has ever done to you on campus?

FYB: I’m not sure I can remember any for now, but I’m sure I have had numerous experiences.

NCB: Do you have a girlfriend?

FYB: No, I don’t

NCB: Will you ever marry or your belief despise such?

FYB: Definitely! Normal normal.

NCB: Are you a celibate?

FYB: Like I said, I definitely will when the right time comes.

NCB: Are you a celibate for now?

FYB: Yes, I am

NCB: When the right time comes, what’s your spec on a woman? Is it a plump or a shaped woman?

FYB: It’s a question I will laugh at. However, I will go for a shaped woman.

NCB: That’s interesting. Where do you see yourself in the next seven years?

FYB: I see myself living a life of influence, impacting lives and my world.

NCB: What’s your advice for the fresh students?

FYB: My candid advice for freshers is that they focus while they aim at giving their very best in their academics and life endeavours. I will wrap up with my favourite quote, which states that “rest is sweet after labour.” They should labour first while they await the harvest.

NCB: Any shout-out?

FYB: I shout-out to my friends — Norf, Dan, and Samuel, the good guys. The journey with you so far has been amazing and I look forward to experiencing many more.

*Can we meet you?* •I am Adéwùmí Zainab Atóyèbí. I recently graduated from the Department of English with a First Class degree (Honours)and the privilege of being the best graduating student of the department. *How do you feel bagging first-class degree in the Department of English since the last time it was recorded?* • I feel very joyful and grateful to God who enabled me and gave me the privilege to have achieved such a feat. While I was diligent with my studies, it is entirely by the grace and favour of God that I graduated well, and I am sincerely grateful for it. *What challenges did you encounter?* • The Department of English is undeniably challenging on its own, especially considering its past records. Personally, I faced health, accomodation and financial challenges, as well as the disappointment of having grades below my expectations.
