Quintessential Class Rep, Cipher Goes Missing Along With Contributed Funds for PAS.

NCB OAU

On April 3rd, 2023, a class meeting was convened at the sports complex by the Quintessential class to address the issue of mismanagement of funds contributed for the procurement of a public address system (PAS) during the recently concluded harmattan semester. Esteemed members of the class and individuals from within and outside the class attended the meeting seeking clarification on the complexity surrounding the missing funds.

During the meeting, Miss Faith Olabiyi, the President of NASELS OAU, called upon a witness to give an account of the issue. Esther Owolabi, the Assistant Class Representative of Literature, came forward to provide her testimony. According to her statement, which she had earlier released on the class page, the class contributed funds for the purchase of two PAS during the harmattan semester, and the fund was kept with Damilola Emmanuel Idowu aka Cypher. Although, only a few student made the necessary payment.

A coincidence occurred when an SER assignment was given, and the class decided to use the payment as a yardstick for the submission of the SER assignment. Unfortunately, some students still refused to pay, and consequently affected the submission of the SER assignment.

According to Esther, the total amount contributed for the purchase of the PAS was about #155,500, which was in Cypher’s possession. At that time, he(Cypher) claimed to have kept #45,000 with Tobi, the Literature Class Representative. Later on, he collected #15,000 from Tobi, leaving him with only #30,000, which he claimed to have kept safely with him.

Esther Owolabi further disclosed that the class had planned to purchase the PAS before resumption, but Tobi informed them that the money was with Cypher. After resumption, Tobi began to pressure Cypher about the urgent need for the PAS and his failure to resume. It was at this point that Cypher tendered flimsy excuses of health related issues and claimed to have used the money to solve his health issues. Unknown to the class, Hon. Noble Tee, from the Part 3 constituency, had gifted them #10,000 through Cypher, as Cypher had failed to disclose the donation to the class.

After thorough investigation by concerned individuals, it was discovered that Cypher had used the money for trading purposes. Cypher sent a message in absentia, pleading to be allowed to refund part of the money for the purchase of 1 PAS before the end of the new week and refund the other one before the end of the semester.

The class unanimously agreed to his request, and Miss Faith Olabiyi passed a verdict that the issue would be taken to the Head of Department (HOD), his portal shall be blocked, and his studentship would be terminated if he compromised his promises.

It is pertinent to note that at the time of reporting this news, Cypher had been impeached for his misconduct.
