CONFIDENCE has to be one of the greatest values every individual can possess. It is a feeling of certainty, a state of comfortability and an acknowledgement of personal identity. It might take time; building one’s confidence is a process that requires constant practice. Confidence mothers self-esteem. Therefore, people who lack confidence have a very high possibility of struggling with their self-esteem. Outspokenness doesn’t mean confidence. It could sometimes be an escape from irrelevance among peers.
My objective in this piece, however, is to take you through some practicable steps to screaming confidence in silence. Your appearance speaks a lot about your identity as it tells whether you’re owning yourself with confidence or otherwise. We have been told and taught a number of times not to judge a book by its cover but it seems to be a very hard principle to follow because a very important part of a book that gives the first impression about it is its cover. Simply put, first impressions about everything matters. Without your speaking to an outright stranger, what first impression do you give them with your appearance? Sincerely, don’t you think your appearance can attract the kind of people you want to have as friends or do you doubt it?
How then can you scream confidence just by your appearance?
- Dress well: The first thing to consider when it comes to appearance is your dressing. A survey of people do not pay attention to this aspect of their lives but I have personally realised that it matters a lot. 50% of what an actor needs to imitate a character is his costume . Therefore, the kind of cloth you wear goes a long way towards telling people who you are. Selecting an outfit can be confusing. Nonetheless, it is not the confusion but the right outfit which determines the impression you want to give and then results in CONFIDENCE.
- Know your style : Knowing your style is another step. It means knowing what you are most comfortable wearing. You know what you can wear comfortably by paying attention. Take inspirations from your role models, and celebrities. Try and pay attention to the ones you love. Although the initial stage of selecting outfits may be difficult, as time goes on you would naturally learn how to shuffle.
- Consider the occasion and seasons: Furthermore, select your outfits according to their occasions and seasons. Another common mistake people make is to not consider the occasion and the season while picking an outfit. The season is a crucial factor to consider while picking your outfits lest you should stew in your juice like shivering in public for not wearing cold-resistant clothes and sweating for not wearing heat-resistant clothes On the other hand, the occasion is also an important aspect to consider e.g. an Owanbe outfit in a hangout is ridiculous and can be embarrassing. Wear the right cloth in the right season to the right occasion and bask in confidence.
- Practicing good postures helps a lot too: stand up straight, walk majestically, own your style. It is what makes you happy and confident. Therefore, be proud of yourself and SCREAM CONFIDENCE IN SILENCE.
